One of the best things about getting a dog is going out for walks so lets talk about puppy leash training. Attaching a leash to your dog for the first time can be turn out to be frustrating for you and confusing for your dog.
Luckily there's help in the form of an harness and you can follow these simple step-by-step instructions to attaching the leash for the first time.
* Attach the leash to the collar, and let it trail, please make sure that the leash can't get snagged on anything.
* Pick up the lead, and follow your lab puppy wherever he wants to go. He will probably not even realise that you are holding the other end.
* Next step you need to encourage your pup to walk with you on the leash, rather than letting him choose his own route. To do this show him his favourite toy or a treat ( I found treats worked best) and hold it out for him to follow.
* Give your Puppy lots of encouragement, and praise and reward him if he takes a few steps in the right direction.
* When your puppy is walking with you, give him a command such as "heel". Top Tip: Only use the "heel" command when your puppy is in the right position. Remember if you want to be successful make sure your puppy isn't tired and also try training before your puppy has been feed you will get a much better response.
Following these steps, and you should be on your way!
